If you've read "Beyond the Body Farm" then you've already word-for-word seen this. I was looking towards finding more about the Leoma Patterson case that perhaps was left out of the body farm book. ZIP, NADA, NOTHING! So what I paid for was two chapters from another book (fictional) that I could have downloaded a sample of for free. This deserves zero stars for not making that clear.

This is the first time I have read a Jefferson Bass book. I found it very interesting and a very quick read, about an hour. I guess I didn't realize it was that short.. I do plan on reading another one by Bass before I make a final judgment on his books.

I had expected this to be a story, but it is more like excerpts from Dr. Bill Bass's diary. It was great for those wanting a few lessons in forensics. And to those kindle readers, do not miss the prologue. It skips over it unless you back up. Another two stories are included there.

Fascinating journey of an incomplete skeleton, a incredible group of scientists and a family looking for answers. I always learn so much from the Body Farm books although some of the intricate scientific information makes me lightheaded. Great short read. My hat's off to all those who took the time and effort to bring this family closure.

I love fictional stories about forensics that are based on real information (not the CSI version of forensics). This novella describes a real case.The problems that forensic scientists go through to identity a person from a skull and a few bones can be difficult. The scientific procedures are all explained by scientific terms that are defined. I enjoyed this book, and learned more about body identification.

This is a short, but interesting, book about an actual case. The narration takes you quickly along a two year struggle for the answer. The real Body Farm scientists are very like those protrayed in the fictional books. I recommend this for anyone who has enjoyed those.

Excellent story by the famous Dr Bass and writing partner Jon Jefferson - hence the pen name Jefferson Bass. I enjoy all of their books and look forward to perhaps another???? The stories are filled with factual info on forensic anthropology and forensic science.

I'm a LMT, and I use the fasciablaster with my clients and I was really hoping that this was going to bring the fasciablaster out of the hype and into a clinical setting. There was a lot of buzz about how the book was filled with new and amazing information, but it's not. It's the same information available in the youtube videos. I was hoping for anatomical details on fascia, information/tips on tissue healing, and information on those trials that keep getting hinted. Instead, this was just a long motivational blog post. I forced myself to read the whole book because I knew my clients would be reading it, but the more I read...well...I actually felt embarrassed that I was using the fasciablaster. I was mortified that anatomical tissue was being called "gummy bears" and "cotton candy"...not just in analogies, but in ongoing discussions. The book is littered with hashtags and promises to get into detailed discussions in a later book. The most frustrating was when paragraphs opened a topic and then the reader was told to search the author's facebook page to continue reading on the topic.A good portion of the book is taken up with re-prints of facebook posts that fans have left for the author. Between these posts and the photos there really isn't much substance. I read the whole book in 2 hours.Now, if you have just purchased the fasciablaster and you don't want to root through lots of videos and you are looking for some motivation, then this book is spot on for you. The user's facebook posts will give you inspiration, and you have all the basic information in one place. But if you want to move beyond that and gain more knowledge, you may want to purchase a book on myofascial release where there is info on reactions in fascia and you can get up to speed with the current studies on fascial tissue.

I purchased the FasciaBlaster strictly for vanity and cosmetic reasons. I wanted my 55 year-old legs to look like they did when I was 35, smooth, sleek and cellulite free. Ashley Black promised this, stating her tool was “100% effective, no matter how big or small you are!” I’m 5’7” and 140lbs. The device is even advertised to “cure” many ailments (which, as a nurse, should have been a red flag for me). I am leery of “quick fixes” and medical scams. I did extensive due diligence. I joined her online Facebook groups. I could find no evidence to debunk her claims. I could find no negative reviews or locate any posts that did not claim “amazing results” from use of the device. I also couldn’t find any actual medical trials or studies but the data I was able to gather told me to buy it!! And I did. And in the first 3-4 months, I felt like I was getting results. I was telling all my friends and family about it ad nauseam and even formed a local support group. Then things started to change despite me following the protocols (which keep changing without notice), heating as instructed, oiling, activating, flushing, icing, etc. I started getting cellulite where I didn’t have it before, namely my arms. The cellulite on the back of my thighs appeared worse. And most of all, my skin had changed. It appeared old, dry and crepe-like despite following directions on the blogs, and in the videos and on the Facebook page. I thought I was alone in my disappointment and was ready to chalk it up to another failed attempts at ridding myself of those nasty lumps and bumps. Until I found a Facebook page where results that were anything less than stellar were being posted. I used the FasciaBlaster for 9 months before quitting. Come to find out, the creator- AB, was censoring her Facebook page; not allowing negative results/adverse reaction post to be posted… period. She was deleting any/all negative comments. I finally discovered that I wasn’t the only one NOT getting the results that AB promised and also learned there were women actually being HURT with the device. My issues are small compared to some of the many others. I was made worse by a device that was guaranteed to give me 100% cellulite elimination. So now that I knew I wasn’t alone, I did some more digging. When I bought the tool, her Terms and Conditions state that the FasciaBlaster is NOT a medical device however, the packaging it came in says it is a Class 1 medical device with US Patent No. D735.818. The T&C also state that the AB Company does not identify itself or any of its personnel, as a licensed dietician, nutritionist, certified personal trainer, massage therapist, medical provider, or licensed/certified as a professional in any field. She touts herself as a scientist but has no medical or health related credentialing what-so-ever. She holds her man Bart Jameson as out as a Fasciologist and her gal Kathleen Stross as a Neuroscientist. It is an insult to those of us with well-earned degrees and a dangerous practice to engage in because she is regularly offering medical advice to the unsuspecting public several times a day on her FasciaBlaster Facebook pages. She flat out denied to users that were experiencing weight gain, that the FasciaBlaster did NOT and could NOT cause weight gain but then updated her T&C to include weight gain as a possible side effect. The updated T&C are 11 pages long, and include multiple new contraindications and warnings-the last T&C update was 4 pages. Because there were no clinical trials or studies conducted outside of “her camp” prior to it’s release to the masses, one can only conclude we, the consumers, have unknowingly been her test subjects. She actually called us her “guinea pigs” on a post as recent as March 10, 2017. And I know that had AB been honest, had she allowed dissenting views to be shared, had she listed ALL of the possible side effects/adverse reactions, had she posted genuine, unfiltered and un-photo shopped photographs, I would not have purchased the product. This woman’s business practices are despicable. Her integrity is questionable. And now, she’s threatening to sue anyone/everyone who has spoken out about her and her bad practices. The “device’ is hurting people. It needs to be remove from market and studied. I agree that it has worked for some people. It even worked for me in the beginning.

Richard "Dick" James is a Crader Professor of Counseling at the University of Memphis. He is a licensed psychologist and licensed professional counselor. He also is a Nationally Certified School Counselor. This is a 600-page book. It is very intense. I grow up with abuse and this book talks in detail about rape, abuse, domestic abuse, loss, mega-crises, and etc... I don' recommend this book unless you have been on the healing the road for your life. I had many triggers from this book. The plus side is that the book also goes into detail about healing and treatment for such things. Which was huge for me. Good luck.

I rented this book for my Crisis and Trauma class. I have decided I am going to purchase it instead because the content is so real and helpful. There are not many times when I find a textbook to be helpful after the class, but I believe this one will be.

Crisis Intervention Strategies--here's a topic counselors need to be as current on as possible. Experience tells me that an 8th edition won't cut it--and this textbook is no exception. One of the co-authors, Burl E. Gilliland, died in 2004. He was an accomplished man, and I'm sure his work on the textbook was excellent, but that was thirteen years ago. And enough of his material remains in this text that his name is still on the cover. Likewise, I'm sure Richard K. James is also a fine person, but neither of them can write dialogue that resembles a conversation in the 21st century.Here's a taste:Officer Davis: (in a calm but authoritative voice) All right, let's everybody cool off! First off, you can't have her arrested for a status offense. It's clear home isn't working real well, so Laura, let's you and me go to my office and talk about what's going on and what you think needs to happen....Laura: Hey! You're kinda different. Most cops push people around. OK.It's like a Breakfast Club after-school special. There are clumsy attempts to acknowledge that the book was written by old white men, but the acknowledgement doesn't curtail the biases evident throughout. Sometimes I feel as if the authors were trying their "scared straight" tactics out on me. Three full pages (six columns) of description of the school of the future, complete with Kevlar vests and prison-like lockdowns. This is AFTER long chapters about rape, child abuse, bereavement, etc. There is nothing inspiring or uplifting about it. And the next chapter is on "Violent Behavior in Institutions"!Any student with any sense of self-preservation at all is going to skim the dramatic scenario sections rapidly because there is SO MUCH to get through! Very few graphics relieve the long blocks of text. There are two good crisis assessment forms but, chances are, wherever we work will have their own forms they prefer.How about some guidance on how to dig through all the concealed and open carry regulations that are different in each state? That might have some bearing on crisis intervention. How about including some research telling about trends in cyberbullying and resultant suicides and what has been done in response? The crises helpers face will be very different in the 21st century. There is a lot of talk in the book about the Memphis CIT program, still in operation, but nothing about innovations and changes there, either. If this textbook is used in a program for masters students deciding on the focus of their practice in any helping profession, I doubt it will win any over to crisis intervention work.Is it actual fraud? No. There are many theories and practices described that will be on different licensing exams. But attention publishers: any new textbook on crisis counseling that tightens up the prose, adds some graphics, and uses cutting-edge references, will blow this tired old book out of the water and make some serious money.

Great source of information and is a captivating, easy read.

I bought this as a required text for a Crisis and trauma class. It was useful for learning the theory behind crisis counseling, however it's so wordy I don't feel it's practical to use day to day, and I probably won't hang on to it.

The book provides an abundance of relevant information related crisis/trauma assessment & intervention, and is a comprehensive guide for service providers. However, it does not examine Type II Trauma in nearly as much detail.

I rented this item and it came brand new. The price was substantially low since it was rented bit that was even better. They provided a return label for free upon sending it back. Please keep your box though.

I liked this book! It was well written, easy to read, and on point with the information needed for the study of crisis interventions. It was well worth the money and will be a valuable addition to my reference collection.

Although this book is a short read, it provides a thorough introduction to the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong. While most other sources focus on the Pacific War from the American perspective, you will find that "Three Years Eight Months" is written with the intent to document the struggles of the average citizen of Hong Kong at the time.

Great comprehensive ebook on subject. This is a topic that many have not heard about and I am glad this is out there for people to learn about the 3 years 8 months occupation period.
