And the reason why I chose this program is because it is made by the same author that made Learn Beginner Spanish bundle. And I found that Spanish program to be very effective at helping me learn how to speak real, down-to-earth conversational Spanish. By the way, I also recently purchased the learning Portuguese program by the same author.First, I will talk about what I liked most about this program. One thing that really pleases me is that there is so much content for what I paid. The program has 30 audio lessons and nearly 13 hours of recorded audio.The teaching method is another thing that I really liked. The method is so engaging and interactive. The lessons are about 30 minutes long and I don’t think there was ever a moment when I was bored while listening to any of these lessons.These lessons only feature native Italian speakers – which really helped to improve my pronunciation in Italian. And it definitely gave me the confidence to speak Italian and hold a conversation with an Italian speaker. Hopefully, I’ll have the chance to travel to Italy soon and give my Italian-speaking skills a real test drive.I believe I gave this author’s learning Spanish program 5 stars. But I am only giving the Italian program 4 stars. And that’s because my reason for wanting to learn Italian is completely different from my reason for wanting to learn Spanish.I live in a city with a lot of Spanish speakers. And I have several Spanish speaking friends. So my reason for wanting to learn Spanish is for developing friendships and relationships with Spanish speakers. And the author’s Spanish program does an excellent job at that. But my reason for wanting to learn Italian is only for tourism or travel. So I am most interested in learning very basic Italian vocabulary for dining, staying at a hotel, what to say at an airport, etc.And a lot of the vocabulary in this Italian program seems to be for people who have a long term goal of achieving fluency in Italian or developing friendships and relationships with Italian speakers or for someone who has plans to relocate and actually live in Italy - which is not why I would like to learn Italian.I still think it’s a great program. Not only will it really help to improve your pronunciation, it does a great job at helping the student understand Italian grammar without the lessons sounding overly academic. But it doesn’t address my personal needs for learning Italian. I’d prefer a crash course in “Italian For Travelers” as opposed to a program that guides me towards achieving fluency in Italian.If you have any questions about this program, please post your questions below and I’ll do my best to answer your questions.

This company makes the best language-learning Italian program when you using the audio lessons as they recommend.I gave it a very low score for the same reason I stopped using Duolingo (in any case Duolingo is a very useless program compare to this one), those creators did not think well about the words you learn first, like what do you need for immediately words like DOG, CAT, LAUNDROMAT, WASHING MACHINE, SCHOOL, LIBRARY, etc. the words that a tourist do not use at all.I immigrated to the US 30 years ago and do not remember when I used the word PILLOWCASE or LIBRARY and yet it's one of the first words they give you to learn. And during the course of the study, you repeat those useless words tens of times to remember, what is the sense to learn useless non-conversational words? CRAZY!!!But Duolingo is a complete idiocy, you will learn 80% of the words you never use or have the same or very similar pronunciation in English and like COFFE, TIGER and what the f... do you need this words when you just arrive in Italy - BUTTERFLY, HORSE, BIRD, and many other absolutely useless words.And Quiono is total absurd.

Besides allowing me to really improve my Italian accent and pronunciation with these lessons what stands out about these lessons is that the teaching and learning method really cements what you learn in your head. They're not using some mechanical method to force you to memorize a bunch of Italian words and phrases that you'll soon forget. I am actually learning how to think in Italian.When I had completed the first 5 lessons and before buying this bundle, a friend from Naples complimented me on how much my accent and pronunciation in Italian had improved. I'm sure if she were to hear me speak in Italian now she'd really be impressed.My hack for improving my Italian pronunciation and accent with these lessons is to not use the transcript. Of course, it's going to be more challenging trying to use this program with just the audio and no transcript. But if you take my advice and do not use the transcript, I can assure you that after a few weeks you'll not only learn how to think in Italian, Italian speakers will also begin to give your Italian pronunciation and accent a thumbs-up. Now with that said, from time to time, you'll want to look at the transcript just to see how a certain word is spelled in Italian.

This is a most effective way to learn Italian. I mentioned in another review that I've used several of this company's programs to learn more than one foreign language. Since I now have two friends who I recommended these lessons to and who both made the same mistake I will say this here again. You really need to get the audio program either here at Amazon or Audible otherwise you are just wasting your time trying to learn just by reading the transcript with no audio.

After trying another Italian language audio program which is very popular and which was also quite helpful, I will say that this is probably the better of the two. With the other audio program that I tried using, there was no ebook that could be purchased. So if there was an Italian word or phrase that I heard and could not understand I would have been completely lost if I had to actually write it.

I bought the first batch of lessons from this audio program about a year ago. And I must say that this company makes the best audio language-learning programs. Not only are their prices incredibly affordable, their system is highly effective. I am truly looking forward to the release of an intermediate level Italian program in this group of lessons.

I'm a huge fan of learning foreign languages. I'm also a foreign language instructor and I must say that this one of my favorites. What a great price and it actually works.

Not a good book to learn

I think this is going to really help me with Spanish. But you have to work on it yourself too, of course.

Exactly what I was looking for. Concise, easy to understand....highly recommended for anyone looking to expand their language base. I am using this to learn Spanish, as well as teach my teenage son the language.

I have sat around at Barnes & Noble flipping through all sorts of spanish books and finally came across this one. It's DEFINATELY the EASIEST to read. The chapters are broken up really well towards everday situations. I adored this lush, well written coming of age historical novel. Set in the early 1900s around the New York Adirondack Lake area, the story is told by seventeen year old Mattie. It focuses on her struggles with family life(her mother has died and she is left caring for her sister and father) and then there's the disquieting fact that a woman's body has been dredged up from one of the lakes.Life in Mattie's world is portrayed vividly. All the town's characters come to life, especially the enigmatic Mrs. Wilcox, Mattie's teacher. Mrs. Wilcox drives a fast car, smokes and has a few secrets of her own. And she believes in Mattie's ability as a writer. When Mattie receives word she's been accepted to Barnard, she is excited but torn between her promises and responsibility to the family. And then add love interest, Royal Loomis, an attractive farmer who wants to start a life with Mattie. Mattie has feelings for him but realizes he may never fully understand or support her love of literature and writing.The descriptions and characters from this time period really come to life in this well written novel; the reality of how women were treated back then and what few choices they had is heart wrenching at times.. I loved this book very much! Highly recommended!

Loosely wrapped around the (true) 1906 murder of Grace Brown (19, pregnant and unmarried) in the Adirondacks, this is a coming-of-age story about bright and precocious 16-year-old Mattie, who lives in near poverty but has dreams of going to college. Mattie's mother has recently died, leaving the five children with their hardworking, but grief-stricken father. Mattie gets a job at one of the local hotels, which caters to summer tourists, and it is here that Grace Brown gives her a packet of letters with the request they be burned. Hours later Grace is found dead. Mattie hasn't yet burned the letters, and the contents reveal the name of her murderer. Author Jennifer Donnelly, who is a gifted storyteller, uses a bit of poetic license with the historical facts, but the tale is entrancing and inspiring.P.S. The Kindle version has multiple typos along with LOTS of missing apostrophes and commas. It's easy enough to figure out that "Im" is "I'm"--but it's annoying.

A friend recommended this book, and I'm so glad she did. A Northern Light is my favorite book I've read this year. I believe it will make it to my top 10 of all time list but it takes time to know that. The book is a classic, easily in the realm of Little Women, To Kill a Mockingbird, Anne of Green Gables and all those beautiful coming of age stories that are timeless.I laughed, I cried, I hoped and I learned. A Northern Light is a beautiful story everyone should read.

4.5 starsThis was a beautifully written book, told from the point of view of Mattie. You come to root for both Mattie and Weaver even though there seems to be little hope in their dreams coming true. The mystery surrounding a girl's drowning death is woven into the story well. I was initially the most intrigued by the mystery of the drowning but I was quickly overtaken by my interest in Mattie as a character. She loves books and picks a word from her dictionary each day and attempts to use it--even in word battles with Weaver. I could relate to Mattie as a character and despite Grace (drowning victim) being the person who really existed, Mattie felt the most real to me. I loved the addition of Miss Wilcox and the twist with her background. The circumstances and time in which Mattie lived really makes you think. If I had be born during that time I may have been one of those women who was considered insane just for having a mind of her own....thanks to a plethora of events and time passing now I just get dirty looks and attitude with only scant mentionings of being institutionalized.

Having read the true account of this murder as well as Dreisers fictional version, I found this a delightful story, well written with great characters, that gives meaning somehow to a senseless, selfish act. It eases the pain of Grace Brown and her baby's death just a little to think that it had fired courage inside another young woman to live her dreams because Grace could not. Bravo, Jennifer, for giving us that hope in this story. And thank you. Grace's letters moved me as well.

Once again, I read another Jennifer Donnelly book and once again I am not disappointed. This was such a lovely book. I fell in love with the main character. Donnelly does such a great job with bringing these characters to life. I couldnt get enough of the book I just didn’t want it to end! I devoured it like chocolate cake. A country setting, country folks, financial hardships, and death. There’s also a true story within the story about Grace Brown and Chester Gillette which sparked my curiosity and I ended up doing research. Jennifer Donnelly is my favorite author. If you enjoyed “A Northern Light” I promise you won’t be disappointed with any of the Tea Rose series or any of her other books.

An excellent history book of North Island. I was stationed there in 1966-1968 in the Navy.Lived on Coronado Island. I loved that area and maybe should have moved back after leavingthe Navy. This book tell how North Island and Coronado Island were separate, but enlarged over the years.and became one Island. Good pictures.

I was expecting a book about the base at NAS North Island....In my view the book is primarily a photo history of the aircraft stationed at NAS North Island rather than history of the base itself...I returned my copy....

An excellent book with high quality photos of the early years at North Island. Although the emphasis is on aircraft there are photos of people, buildings and hangars. It is a fine addition to the 1967 book Jackrabbits to Jets.

This book is just silly. Clearly the authors have an agenda and believe they possess some kind of psychic ability to know Michelangelo's emotional and psychological state from some former life they've imagined. This book is not based on scholarly research. They throw in some historical facts and embellish them with imaginative conjecture. A big disappointment. If you want the FACTS read the exhaustive, accurate, and highly researched book, The Sistine Chapel by Heinrich W. Pfeiffer. The author is a professor of Art History at the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome. Pfeiffer cites and explains the writings of the 11th and 15th century theologians. He provides a substantial body of work that validates, over and over, how the artistic, allegorical approach to the ceiling was accomplished. It isn't secret and sexy, it is just accurate and insightful. The authors of The Sistine Secrets have not done their homework.

Michelangelo's connection with ancient knowledge and religions is explained and explored in this well written narrative. Unfamiliar details of his art are presented and exposed as the artist's camouflaged statements against the political and religious powers of his era. The book is a pleasure to read.

This is an AMAZING book! It is carefully and intelligently written and backs up its startling thesis with undeniable proof! I have two degrees in art from UCLA and had never learned of any of the history-changing ideas posited in this book! It’s a page turner and I couldn’t quit - I read it in one sitting! I promise that WHATEVER you believe about Michelangelo’s masterpiece this book will literally blow you away and convince and change your whole concept! To make its controversial points clear there are copious illustrations that prove the amazing thesis! I bought several copies and gave one to a conservative friend. She hasn’t replied and may still be in shock. It’s THAT good and that informative! I canNOT recommend this book more highly! It’s a game changer (literally)!! Academic but reads as easily as a detective thriller! JUST READ IT! I guarantee that you will not be disappointed!

Very interesting book about Michelangelo and the painting of the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo was not a painter but a sculptor...but what the Pope wanted the Pope got. The book tells of all the hidden Jewish/Hebrew items that are in the painting. Would love to have pictures of each one of the items that is being discussed so that I can visually see the area of the painting. If you are reading the book, go get a copy of the pictures of the Sistine Chapel to have at your side.

A wonderful tour through the Sistine Chapel complete with actual pictures of the works that are minutely explained and secrets finally brought to light 500 years after they were first revealed to the public. The Catholic Church was in a terrible state with Popes who only wanted themselves immortalized and did nothing to advance the faith. The artist Michelangelo is forced into painting frescoes on the Sistine ceiling depicting Catholic dogma. However this artist has different, irreverent plans that ,if discovered, could mean his imprisonment or death. You see things that even those who have been inside the chapel and seen this masterpiece in person would not ever notice or understand the subtlety of. This book explains it all with the pictures to back it up. During the reading the reproductions of the chapel paintings are in black and white, but at the end of the book all the paintings shown previously are in stunning colors. Once you finish this book you'll know more about Michaelangelo and his work than the Sistine Chapel guides.

I enjoyed this striking and history story, filled with surprises I had never imagined existed. After watching an interesting though flawed series about the Borgia Family and the times in which they lived, I could not help but have a greater understanding of Michelangelo and his life and personal predicament being in such turbulent times.It is an adult book that requires an adult overview of history and human nature to understand and appreciate this study, but well worth the effort for a lover of true history.

I've not been to the Sistene chapel, EVER !, (I had just seen the pictures like everyone else), but reading this book, I really felt, that I was there in the 15th Century, seeing all the intrigues that were going on.I was surprised by the depth of Michaelangelo's learning, through his apprenticeship, and tutelege, through the Medici's.Everything, that I thought I knew about Michaelangelo, was dashed to pieces, but those pieces were re-built slowly, carefully and properly, each piece given a new meaning and justification, (with so much hidden meaning).To learn that he was 'cocking a snook', at the VATICAN, and the Popes, was a refreshing revelation to me.But he was doing this knowing that he could be, executed for even just thinking these thoughts !He must now surely be regarded as one of the bravest heroes, fighting against the establishment, in the most cleverest of ways, right underneath their noses.Three cheers for Michaelangelo di Lodovico Buonarotti !

Our granddaughter love this book. It arrive in two days and was fairly priced.

John Feinstein's knowledge of the sport and the details of the games and emotions are excellent. Our 11 year old loved the book.

Very timely for youth involved in sports in today's world.

Both book have the same kind of tense moments, sports moments drama and of course romance. I recommend this book to all ages.

I choose this rating because I enjoyed the first book so much it made me want to read this book and it was just as good
