In a Forward the author wrote for Anita Kraft's, 'The Qabalah Workbook for Magicians,' Duquette -- a 40+-year scholar of Hermetic Qabalah -- writes: "'The Chicken Qabalah of Rabbi Lamed Ben Clifford' is quite frankly the text I wish I could have read I first began my Qabalah adventure." I am grateful to have stumbled upon this book at the start of my Qabalah adventure. It now lives in my top 5 list of Qabalah books for beginners along with: Dion Fortune's "The Mystical Qabalah," Israel Regardie's "The Complete Golden Dawn System of Magic," Frater Barrabbasand's "Magical Qabalah for Beginners: A Comprehensive Guide to Occult Knowledge," and Anita Kraft's "The Qabalah Workbook for Magicians."For a concise introduction to Judaic/Hebraic Kabbalah which is quite different from Hermetic Qabalah, I enjoyed Dovid Krafchow's "Kabbalistic Tarot."

Lon Milo Duquett is one of the most entertaining and informative writing on the subject of Quabalah and Ceremonial Magick. Using humor and wit the author uses an amusing character of a rebellious rabbi to teach the difficult and heady concepts of Quabalah . Rabbi Lamed Ben Clufford is a play on the author's real name.A word about the spelling of Quabalah , Kabballah , and Caballah. Spelling counts here. Spelling with a K indicates Jewish mysticism , while C indicates the Christian version of things and the q is the super mystical which involves magic, tarot and numerology. The author starts the reader off with a fictional biography of his fictional character. Then informs us that Chicken Quabalah is for people who wish to take a less painful and less dogmatic route to the study of Quabalah . There is also his fiction school. Zerubabel's institute.Going into a rant which has his version of the ten utterances, we are informed that the universe was created from nothingness and that everything is one and interconnected . Heaven and Earth mirror each other and all of creation is reflected into everything .The world was created by the utterance of Hebrew letters. Each Hebrew letter has numerical value and symbolic meaning. The author delves into that making the info easy to assimilate and yet giving the reader a full picture. He also gives the tarot correspondences .Next the tee of life is examined and compared to the Hebrew letters and tarot cards. There is also discussion on gematria, notoricon and temura. Gematria is the numerical value of the words and sentences to squeeze out hidden meanings . Notoricon involves making acronyms out if works and sentences and teruma is letter replacement .This book is a great primer for the Quabalah newbie and a good read for the advanced practitioner. As you ascend the tower if the deities name and scour the four worlds if creation you will find this book invaluable .

This is one of my favorite books. I have it as a paperback and now, via this purchase, as a kindle copy. Lon is an expert in this field. He is also a great teacher, using humor and wit to teach the subject matter, making it such an enjoyable learning experience. You will learn not only about the Qabalah, but also its relationship to magic, the tarot and the Hebrew alphabet. For anyone familiar with any of his YouTube interviews, this guy knows his stuff, is hilariously funny and is also one of the kindest people on the planet. Highly recommended book and author.

Excellently presented! Humor made it fun and more accessible! Esotericism need not be dull, dry, and drudging. Thank you for the reminder that even a sense of humor had its start in atziluth, just like the need for rest . . . in a chair . . . with a great book like this!

DuQuette's cute masterpiece was the first book on Qabalah I read. I read the book attentively and even highlighted the phrases I thought to be useful for later work. Well... I have NO idea what Qabalah is and how to use it. Should I be upset about it? Hell, no! I am a Chicken Qabalist!!!I will share with you the two Highly Profound Thoughts that stumble into my head while I was reading this book (I am sure they simply got lost on their way to Rabbi Lamed Ben Clifford's mind, but you know what... let's not worry about it, after all he and I are Chicken Qabalists!!):1. Everything is Sacred, everything contains the ultimate sense, everything is the ONE.2. Be what you are and do what pleases you: you are here exactly for that reason. Do not compare yourself, but live the life that pleases YOU and once you have the ingredients together something that is greater than the parts emerge and you will be surrounded with people who treasure the YOU that you are, and who will need exactly what you have to offer. Basically, "build it, and they will come.""The Qabalah doesn't enable me to merely interpret what somebody else meant to say; it forces me to hear what I need to hear! Each time I make another connection on paper, I am creating a new connection in my head (or perhaps reattaching a connection that was disconnected from heads of our ancestors vast ages ago), and I am one step nearer to the realization that everything in Heaven and Earth is connected to everything in Heaven and Earth." (p.186)"Gods, archangels, angels, spirits, intelligences, and demons are personifications of all our abilities and potential abilities - a wondrous hierarchy of consciousness that represents the subdivisions of our own soul." (p.130)Since I did not know what I needed to learn about Qabalah and what exactly it was, I could not figure out if the writer was making too much fun, or if the descriptions were much too simplified or if it was even worth wasting time trying to finish this book (which reads more like a short O'Henry story than a "study" manual) but in the end it all, magically, came together. I did not have a clear and loud "A-HA!" moment (do I care about it? Hell, no! I am a Chicken Qabalist!!) but I did get more light onto the question of what Qabalah is, what is "inside" of it, and, most important HOW TO use a trick or to to enhance my own life and lives of people who turn to me for friendship, help, advice, support: you name it. AND I learned a new way to uncover messages from above, be it in the repeating numbers I meet through the day, in a phrase that is stuck in my mind or in the additional layer I can, with some practice, put out of any Tarot spread. For me, the whole book was a prelude to the Chapter 9 The Chicken Tarot and Holy Guardian Angel, an astonishingly practical view on how to "place" all the cards in your head and how to use Qabalah, Astrology, timing, magic: you NAME IT! - in your Tarot readings. And once again, the last chapter, on the numbers-letters and other Qabalistic "games" is an awesome how-to guide on getting Divine messages every moment of your existence.I five this book 4 Stars only because I feel that Lon Milo DuQuette could have put so, so, so much more into it. I feel like he has uncovered a tiny look-through hole in the fence between me and the rest of the World. I wish he showed me where the door is :) But then, as Rabbi Lamed Ben Clifford said, "I've worked hard to gain enlightenment just so you won't have to" (p.149) Oh, well...Does DuQuette, the author, care that I gave the book 4 out of 5 stars? Hell, no! He is the Chicken Qabalist!!!Victoria Evangelina BelyavskayaPS I cannot leave without assuring you that if you ever wanted to learn Hebrew Alphabet: how to write letters and their meanings, the guide in the book is THE solution to your quest. It is so easy that after reading it once I may not remember the names of the letters yet, but I will never confuse Gimel and Nun, for example, for my eyes have been trained to see the subtle difference.PPS you HAVE TO learn Hebrew Alphabet to apply Qabalah knowledge in Tarot and every-moment-everywhere-divine-message-readings!

Very beginner level work that can open the mind to new perspectives.
