I started reading this captivating book at 11:45 pm one night and before I knew it, it was the early hours of the morning and I had read it cover to cover. I cried through much of it and literally could not put it down. It's days later and I still can't stop thinking about what Stephanie went through. It's made me more thankful for all the little things we often take for granted and while I can't relate to the many unthinkable horrors Stephanie went through, it's a wonderful reminder of God's love for each of us & what we can do to help others.After reading it, I had to go on YouTube to hear Stephanie tell her stories firsthand. I have an adopted aunt from Korea who experienced some of the same things and like Stephanie for many years has tried to ignore that part of her life, but despite her love for God, I know she still has a lot of anger to work through. I am ordering more copies to mail to her & the rest of my family in the hope that it helps her on her path to healing. I am eagerly waiting on the edge of my seat for Stephanie's second book!

I wanted this book to be over when I was about halfway through. I heard Stephanie speak at a concert about a year ago and was broken by the realities that her story spoke of then. When her book was offered for free for kindle I knew I needed to read the rest.Her life, in the early years, was tragic and heart breaking and real. What is even more heartbreaking is that this story is just one of millions that could be told.Preparing her as an advocate for foreign and rejected children the world over.This book serves as a good reminder, in general, but even more for me of what God is calling me in to.

I read this entire book in one night because I simply could not put it down. Just an incredible story on so many levels. I don't think I could survive if left outside for a week, let alone as a young helpless child left alone to survive for years. God's hand is so apparent throughout this story, and I was greatly moved and greatly encouraged by Stephanie's transparency. May God bless this book and give us all a heart to reach out and help the helpless around the world.

This story is very inspirational, gives hope and shows God's unconditional love. I had the privilege of knowing the adoptive parents of Stephanie Fast. They were amazing people and my life is enriched because I knew them. I recommend this book because it is such an amazing story of God's sustaining power and purpose.

Stephanie is the child of a Korean girl and an American GI and will always be an outcast in the Korean culture. she is finally abandoned by her mother and has to learn to live and survive as best she can. She is taunted and tortured by other outcast children. She steals food when possible and learns which weeds are edible. She manages to survive the cold winters in fox holes. Constantly cold and hungry she searches for her mother until she is hopelessly lost. Wandering to a city she is abused until she is rescued by a mission and kept there until an American missionary couple adopts her. It is a heart breaking story and I wept many times while reading. The ending is happy, but one wonders how many of these children have managed to survive.

This book took the reader through the horrors of what life was like for a mixed racially shunned child after the Korean War. The tender age of the writer and the abuses she expierenced will haunt me forever . The awe in the child's mind at being adopted by a missionary couple, that seemed like Giants to her. She is now an advocate in society for the women and children that suffer worldwide. Her story brought tears to my eyes in places. It is hard not to feel compassion and respect for her. My copy came from Amazon. Please buy and read this heroic book.

After the Korean War in the early 1950's, thousands of children were left homeless. This is, as the author says, her own story told as if she was someone else, because there were so many other Korean and half-breed children who went through the same abuses that Yoon Myoung did. It is a testament to the ability of God to truly save the life of a child whom no one but her mother thought was worth anything. Heartbreaking, devastating, but ultimately positive, it will make you sit up and take notice of the world around you and the darkness that is always hiding behind the light. Incredible what this tiny girl was able to accomplish in her own, simply because she must live.

I splurged on myself last evening and bought this book that I have wanted for a year or more. Oh, my goodness! With a book this good normally I would say that I stayed up until 3 a.m. and finished it, however, it is so beautifully written that, rather than rushing ahead, I am savoring its every word. Stephanie Fast is a true wordsmith.If you are interested in Korea, war history, are touched by adoption in any way, or just love an amazing true story...do yourself a favor and read this phenomenally well written book.

I was giddy with anticipation to read this book. I pre-ordered this because I knew this series was definitely something I wanted more of, and the second volume deliverers on this. The characters are fun and lovable and the college adventures continue. There are the ups and downs with plenty of laughs along the way. The characters all have such interesting personalities and the stories they have remind me of my college experience. If you liked the first book, you should definitely get this one.

3.5 starsThis is volume 2 in John Allison's series about three 1st year students at college in England during the 2010s. The artwork captures campus life and dorm rooms expertly, but the best illustrations are the facial expressions of the characters.Sexual orientation, sex, drugs, academics, family, bonds of friendship, money problems, secret romantics relationships, and social issues are all explored in the four issues that make up this volume. Very true to life.

I'm a big fan of John Allison and was excited when the Giant Days series was announced. Although initially disappointed he wouldn't be drawing it, the artist is fantastic and expressive. Some great stories about friendship and general college life. Well told, witty, and interesting.

I love these comics! The art is fun and the characters are saucy! Love it!

Loved the 1st volume and the 2nd one is just as good.

I am really enjoying this graphic novel series. I love reading about this trio of women and how they navigate their lives at university. I also love the illustrations.

A wonderful continuation of a wonderful series

Really fun and funny story about young women in college and their friendships. Also I'm an American living in England and the Englishness of some of the details is entertaining. My husband really likes it too.

The first illustration is a minimalist line drawing. The tree that follows has more detail, but there’s also an ethereal figure climbing it, which makes it a little spooky but quite interesting.After that artsy start it settles into huge info dumps. There are entire pages full of leaf shapes, for instance, and another of seeds. I don’t know the age group targeted here, but I’d imagine it would take early teens, and then they’d already have to be interested in science and such, to get into all this. It feels like a science textbook at a performing arts high school.Fun fact: cork protects its oak from fires, if the humans haven’t harvested it all for their wine bottles.There are similar chapters on flowers, animals, rocks, and so on. There’s a special section on the platypus, which feels right.From the mentions of the country, as well as the names of the author and illustrator, it’s pretty easy to tell this book originated in Portugal.Fun fact: biologists howl too.Some sections include homework assignments.

I really enjoyed this book as it reintroduced me to a number of concepts that I had learned while in school, but hadn't really thought about or explored more since then. For learning about nature, I tend towards children'ts books because they are generally written in a clear and concise manner without any judgement and this book definitely fulfills those categories. I also really enjoyed the artwork that went along with the different pages and can see how it would appeal even more to a younger reader.Favorite fact learned is that daisies are actually comprised of more than one flower, you just have to look closely :)I received this book in exchange for a review, but the opinions are my own.

This product was exactly what I was looking for. Fits perfectly in any purse and is a 2 year monthly view colorful calendar with equally large squares for all days of the week! (Unlike many pocket calendars that have decreased space for weekend days.) Thank you and please continue this product bi-yearly!

It's stylish and functional - the paper is nice and heavy. Like other reviewers have stated, it opens like a checkbook, and not a a reading book.

This will serve its purpose, but the crazy, stuck in my ways part of me REALLY wants to replace it for a vertical. Sad I have to look at horizontal for the next two years ;)
