Textbook is in perfect condition, and it arrived before classes started, which was amazing, because that is something I am always worried about, regardless of what the "expected arrival" date is.Plus, the layout of the textbook is very easy to follow, and it is organized very well. I've used a lot of textbooks for my anthropology courses that are all over the place with the organization, or the image-to-text balance is disappointing. This one is very easily read, and it has an aesthetically pleasing balance to it--so you're not just slogging through awkward and dry chunks of text.

It is very dense and hard to read, good luck

The first half of the book (covering up to about 50000BC) reads like a dictionary of archaeological sites, which makes it frustrating to read. However, the author(s) are so thorough that I can't imagine there is much on the topic of Anthropology that you couldn't find in this book.

Fantastic textbook. Although a multi-authored book, there is clear homogeneity in the presentation of the various chapters. The illustrations are really beautiful, it is almost an art book. It is a must have for who is interested in archaeology. It spans a period of several millions years. All the major archaeological sites are described, I recommend really to buy the latest edition, although older editions are available at discount price. The latest developments, like the sequencing of neanderthal DNA and others are discussed in this new edition and this is fascinating. Archaeology is really a science on the move.

Bought this book for a class on World Archaeology. As an anthropologist I was intrigued by it, but there was way too much fluff. Could definitely have been condensed and edited better.

I purchased this book for my Native American class, and I absolutely fell in love with it. If you are looking for a "brief" historical book on Native American history and how contact with Europeans has changed their culture through time and altered their perceptions and stability that will not put you to sleep, this is the book. Mankiller was most definitely an amazing woman with outstanding story-telling abilities. She brings in her own personal experiences that parallel the destruction done to Native land, peoples, and cultures in the United States. She does tend to jump around when it comes to her dates, so be sure to pay attention when you read and don't be afraid to reread if you get lost in names, dates, and/or other facts. Luckily, the editor and Mankiller added a timeline in the back and definitions to important acts and people that are mentioned throughout the books entirety. It is an incredibly enjoyable and easy read. I think because Mankiller adds in her own personal experiences, it becomes a heart-breaking story instead of just another statistic to be pushed aside.

Brilliant piece of work. It explains what our govt did to the natives, historically, and how the process of some change came about in baby steps. It will break your heart about this history, that Congress treated the native nations with such despicable energy especially after they fought the Civil War, lost their lives, transplanted their families, and abused their children. We all need to know and learn and share. Wilma was chief in every way. R.I.P.

A great autobiography of a powerful Native American woman. I purchased this for a college class on Native American history and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mankiller weaves Cherokee past with Cherokee present, showing how the Cherokee Nation is ever dynamic while remembering its roots.

I was somewhat aware of Wilma Mankiller prior to reading this book but I had no idea of the journey she had traveled in her life. This story is not only a tale of the many twists and turns in her life, but also a great introduction to the Cherokee people and the struggles that they endure. Wilma mankiller is not one who will be remembered in history outside of her tribal circles, but her story is an important one.

Bought after watching PBS documentary re Wilma Mankiller Inspiring American/ Native American life story of leadership and positive social change

This is an excellent book and a true revelation. After reading it, I wanted her to run for POTUS, but sadly she is no longer among us.

I am part Cherokee and have always been proud of it. I never knew of this book however and really enjoyed reading it. I was especially interested to find out how Wilma's and my paths crossed many times. I have a cousin that researched our Cherokee history and published 5 volumes about the family. Such a brave lady of whom we can all be thankful for.

This autobiography is a MUST read!!! An eye opening history of the Native Americans who were far more resilient than seems imaginable! Thank you, Wilma Mankiller, for heightening my already sensitive curiousness about this country's indigenous people!

I suppose my review might mean more if I start by saying I am not a fan of parenting books and fads on how to raise child.However.The insights I have learned from this book are INVALUABLE! I am grateful for the teachings and the reviews that steered me to this book. The Waldorf Preschool I wanted my child to attend recommended Across the Rainbow Bridge,which my friend purchased. The reviews said it was a good book but not actionable for parents. This book on the other hand is FILLED with friendly suggestions, examples, and TONS of resources at the end of every chapter. I found myself wanting to buy every book the author recommended, because her style of writing is so inclusive I was inspired to learn as much as I could.Anyway, since the first chapter I was finding reasons to stay up later to continue reading. I found myself prefacing most conversations with, " This book I'm reading talks about that...", and when I would share with my friend who was reading the book I had intended to buy I asked if any of this content was discussed and repeatedly she said none of the topics we were discussing regarding child rearing were addressed.I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this book to even a brand new mom. I personally didn't want to read any books I was so overwhelmed as a single parent and new mom. BUT I do wish I had these insights with a new baby and maybe even in my last trimester when reading books was a simple task ;)

This book was really great and brought up some really good points I am going to keep in mind while raising my daughter. But I also felt like it was a little bit just trying to sell the Waldorf schools.I like how it tells parents to slow down and not treat kids like little adults. It also gives some great ideas on what to do with kids

It was a good read, normally I don't read a book straight through. I'm usually just looking for the info I need and skimming. From the law to the prophets to the wisdom literature, the grand subject of all of scripture is Jesus.Within his book, Sidney Greidanus challenges pastors to take up the Old Testament and show their congregations Christ. He spends multiple chapters answering the question of how to accomplish this task with a sound hermeneutic. In his review of Christian history, he points out the shortcomings and strengths of those who preceeded this generation. By examining the New Testament he extracts principles for preaching Christ, and then develops a method that keeps the expositor faithful to the text.Where many books on this subject have fallen short, Greidanus succeeds. He writes in a scholarly and yet easy to read manner. The depth and breadth of the subject is covered in a clear outline, and the book is constantly centered in the authority of God's word. If you are seeking to grow in preaching Christ from all of the Bible, then this book is worth your time.

Greidanus assumes that modern preachers are still being trained in classic liberalism in reading and interpreting the Bible. I think this is less so today, especially in the conservative seminaries. This volume should not be read in isolation, but with other conservative texts on the subject. The Kindle version has numerous places where there are flaws in the reproduction of the text, either by having dirty pages to copy from, or possibly from having dirt on the glass of the copier scanning the pages for Kindle. This is a mere distraction, and does not prevent using the text.

In search of a richer hermeneutic, I bought this along with Dennis Johnson's "Him We Proclaim."The best part of the book is Greidanus' survey of Hermeneutical history. It is very well researched, identifies the major schools and methods, and approaches them from a truly fresh angle, that you will not typically find in a hermeneutics textbook. For example, rather than spend extensive energy in discussing higher critics of the 19th century he deals with Spurgeon's interpretive method -- certainly much more relevant and interesting for the average reader of the book, and surprisingly a ground rarely covered. Therefore, I found actual research here strong and provocative Here we have a story of hermeneutics with more explanatory power.I found a great deal of irony in the analysis of this material, however. This was because the emphasis of the book is to let the (Biblical) text speak for itself so that we may learn from it. Yet, when reading through his evaluations of the church tradition, they were not allowed to speak for themselves! The history that he finds, actually demonstrates fairly conclusively that the earliest interpreters relied heavily on typology, and that even the giants such as Augustine, Luther and Calvin all used it as well as allegory. In each evaluation they are praised for obeying the 20th century evangelical rules of interpretation, and criticized when they deviate. The history was thus marred by a foregone conclusion. His criticism of Spurgeon for example begins with "even the most generous reviewers will admit that Spurgeon makes numerous errors in his interpretation of Scripture." A quick dismissal for the "Prince of Preachers." If every major interpreter since Clement of Rome in 96 AD used allegory, should we pause to re-evaluate its significance at least, or examine it more carefully? Rather than just rank people on how much they did or didn't do?To his credit Greidanus tells this story so in order to make an opening for himself to demonstrate how we can use the OT in broader ways than have been recently popular. The approach he ultimately builds off of this history does succeed in that, but Johnson's work was much bolder and really set a high bar. Johnson suggests that we follow the Apostolic method of interpretation and demonstrates in numerous ways how we can do just that. Some of the same kinds of interpretations that Greidanus dismisses as allegory, Johnson demonstrates to actually have textual warrant.Bottom line, the history section in this book was really an education and worth the book if money is not a concern, but if your real concern is hermeneutics and how to preach Christ in continuity with that history, buy Johnson.

Operating on the Scriptural basis that Jesus is the Eternal Logos present before the Old Testament was ever written (John 1:1), yet is the incarnate Christ present after the Old Testament era (John 1:14), Greidanus presents a method for preaching Christ from the Old Testament text. Working with a "contemporary hermeneutical method," Greidanus explains how the Old Testament is indeed a Christian text and should therefore be used in Christian teaching and worship. Considering the Old Testament more than a history book, the author points out that Christ is not only found in the New Testament, but that all that was written in the Old Testament points to Christ -- the person, work, and teaching of Christ.Greidanus takes a review of the history of the Christian homiletic and analyzes the kerygma of the Church in order to better explain how to preach Christ. With his presentation, he explains the benefits and disadvantages of various approaches to Christocentric preaching throughout the ages. Following the principles of the kerygmatic dialog found in Scripture, Greidanus instructs the reader how to read the Old Testament through Christocentric lenses.

A very nice collection of tips that famed table tennis coach Larry Hodges has included in his blog postings over the past 3 years. Aimed at the intermediate and up player (or perhaps a rapidly advancing advanced beginner), it doesn't focus on the mechanics of the basic table tennis strokes, but instead how to improve your play generally. It ranges from tactics within points (sections on serve, receive, rally tactics) to more general game strategies and even how to do things like developing practice partners or what to do when you're playing in an unfamiliar tournament. It'a an invaluable supplement to table tennis lessons which tend to concentrate on stroke improvement but not on what you should do with your newly improved strokes! This is a stand-along volume - my favorite of his earlier books is his "Table Tennis Tactics for Thinkers".

As always, Larry presents clear, unambiguous tips based on his years of experience as a player and as a coach. So will YOU jump 1000 points after reading his Tips? Not likely, but you may feel like you're armed to do so. St yourself a goal, buy the book, read it and understand it, and se how you've improved. Great read either way.

It is a 26 page pamphlet with no useful information....DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE PRICE...Wipe the ball off with a soft cloth to clean..Don't hold the ball in your bare hand in the sun...There, saved everybody else the money...

This book gives a brief overview of the subject. It would have been nice to have before and after pics for post processing and generally just more pictures that compare what the standard camera shot would look like side by side with the image taken with the ball. Good basic introduction though.

For some odd reason I thought it would be bigger than what it is. but that goes to show that I didn't look into it well enough before buying it. still cool.

My granddaughter just turned 12 and is a budding photographer, so I bought this for her birthday along with a crystal ball. It was a hit!

Good book. Really helpful. Great instructions. And not too long. A fun thing to add to your photography.

Purchased along with the crystal photo ball. Very helpful and gave great suggestions.

Smallest then I thought but it is something you can have in your photography bag so I was pleas with wish there were more pictures.

Great tips for the ball! Can't wait to explore with the knowledge....
