Storm in a Teacup is a fantastic read and one that anyone with an interest in how their world works will enjoy. Complex physical properties are made accessible through the author's use of real world examples, but, unlike other science books I have read, she does not start with a statement of the scientific law which is then supplemented with abstract examples. Instead, she pulls the reader in by tapping into our innate curiosity about what we see in our everyday lives but are usually to busy to inquire about. Starting from a place of "Did you ever wonder why...?" instead of "In the 18th century the following law was discovered..." allows readers to feel like they are invited into the discovery process even if the knowledge about that discovery is centuries old. Her excitement for the material is infectious. After finishing some sections, I found myself wanting to grab whoever was in the room to explain to them a concept that they could try for themselves. I think the best part about this book is the joy the author finds in physics and that her command of the material frees the reader to feel like they can be part of the experimenting process and, better yet, have the permission to experiment themselves.

I learnt so much from this book. It is one amazing book and this book i am not lending it to anyone because i will reread it. I heard Ms Czerski on NPR and i went and immediately bought this book. Thanks to her now i see physics in everything. Thank you for enlightening me

This book is amazing! I had a real pleasure reading it. I liked the way Helen Czerski describes and explains the facts. Chapter 1 about fluid dynamics was so well written and interesting that I thought it would definitely be the best chapter in the book. But then chapter 2 about gravity was amazing, and I was surprised on chapter 3 about cells and nano with the amount of knowledge there is in this book. And the last chapter gives us an optimistic view of the future and our society.

This is a good review of physics principles and how they apply to some unusual situations. I liked the how the author illustrated tuning a radio by describing how we can see red ink with green or blue filters but not with red filters. There are also some pretty interesting facts e.g. if you are on the Equator you are 13 miles farther from the center of the Earth than if you are on the North Pole. She has a breezy writing style that made reading easy even if the topic might be a bit daunting.

She wrote the book in an easily understood way and provided many answers to common questions. Highly recommended.

Among other things science is supposed to make our world less strange. This is exactly what this book does. It explains many allegedly strange phenomena in our everyday world in a clear and "user-friendly" language.

Not a scientist but like reading stuff like this. It is a great read and is written to be understood by all education levels. How they relate it everyday happenings is what I like best about it. Makes you understand more about the world without having to get a PHD! This would be great for kids in high school who are into or want to learn more about physics.

This book is amazing. The author does an excellent job of describing the physics of our world in language that is easy for the layman to understand. She makes talking about ordinary things like a cup of tea or bubbles fascinating. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about how and why the world works the way it does.

It is 6:13 AM I haven't been to bed yet I have to finish reading lady renegade awesome book awesome but I'm not surprised because Elizabeth Rose is one of the best authors I will say I had to go back and purchase the rest of the books I had to. She is by far one of my favorites I've got so many of her books are used to say I can read faster than you can write but it's 73 I'm not so sure your guys are going I don't care if I have to get a magnifying glass I just have to read the books and she's one of the best if you haven't really never looked yet please do so you will not be disappointed

I have enjoyed the first two books and am eager to read the next story in the Legacy of the Blade series. Ms. Rose is an exceptional story teller. Her imagery leaps off the page (or e-reader screen) and instantly grabs the reader. Well-developed characters and adventure will keep you engaged until the very end and longing to read the next book. There were a few misused than instead of then that had me wincing. A couple of anachronistic words and phrases seemed to zap me back to the present but I was delighted to immerse myself in 14th Century Scotland.

A very entertaining story! This is a story that takes place in medieval times and has everything in it to make a good book. It mostly centers around Lady Wrenwho meets Storm while on the way to her baby's father. There is a battle where her English escort causes her to go blind. Nine years later Lady Wren and Storm meet again. There is love, action, light hearted fun, kindness, and some cruelty. Lady Wren is also known as "the Renegade" and has an unusual love and bonding with animals. Storm is known as someone who no one can beat. This is really a very good book, one that I have throughly enjoyed. This book stands completely on its own but there is a third book that tells a further story of some of the characters in this book.

Another great book to go with the Mad MacKeefe clan books of Onyx, Aidan, and Ian. Storm MacKeefe is estranged from his clan after a violent confrontation between them and a group of English soldiers escoring a young English girl and her baby to King David who is supposedly his father. Wren has been raped by King David of Scotland and when she delivers him a son she is being brought to him when a violent confrontation occurs that causes her to become blind and flee into the woods with her baby to fend for herself.Years later Storm is making his living in competitions and wagers and he is tricked into agreeing to bring in the leader of a band of renegades not knowing that it is Wren.

Honor and love, murder and mayhem, trust and loyalty, these are a few of the emotions that come forth in this story. A young Scottish lad, just coming into manhood, is disowned by his father for refusing to kill wantonly. Nine years later he is offered a bag of gold, by the Earl, for bringing the leader of the Renegades to him. Now the story of mystery, trust and love begins. To find out how the story unfolds, well...you'll just have to read it. There are surprises and twists in the story that you will never expect. This is a story clambering to be read by all who like romance, mystery and intrigue.

This is a story of Storm MacKeefe, also known as ‘The Highland Storm’ because of his legendary temper and Lady Wren, leader of The Renegades, a band of highland warriors. Tricked into accepting the wager, Storm is on the search for the Renegades and their leader. What he doesn't know is that the leader is blind and uses her gift with animals negotiate the world around her.Once he comes face-to-face with the Renegades, he realizes that has crossed paths with Lady Wren before. This book is amazing! It has all the information there that you need to confidently assess, diagnose and manage motor speech disorders. It is well set out and allows you to return to specific areas to look things up very easily. I have learned so much from studying this text which is directly relevant in my work as a speech pathologist with adult acquired communication disorders. My only criticism would be the chapter on psychiatric conditons and motor speech disorders - it really didn't seem to understand the complexities of this area or describe it very well. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Dense material but it is written in a relatively straightforward manner.

Duffy is such an important name in the field of motor speech disorders, but this book is difficult to read until the later chapters. I am sure, however, that it will remain an important reference for my practice.

I'm suspicious that many of the reviews for this book are fake. Even if a reader was being incredibly generous, they wouldn't rave about a book like this. It has no depth or reveal. Even if you were truly in desperate need of focus, direction, or mental training, you wouldn't read this book and walk away thinking, "Well, boy, I learned a lot!"The book is an embarrassingly amateur read. It's a very light book consisting of a series of "grasshoppa" moments (look up the 1970's TV show "Kung Fu" if that reference is dated). The author simply tells a ton of short stories (very short, as-in 2-3 pages) that are supposed to teach principles. But the stories are childish and the lessons "learned" are totally obvious. "I grew up in the midwest. During the summer, we would visit the ice cream truck. Not only was the ice cream not that great, but I often got an ice cream headache after eating it. Lesson: The mind is your most powerful tool. Treat it well." That example is not a quote from the book, but rather an illustration of the ridiculous "insight" contained in this book.I don't mean to be too harsh on the author, but this kind of fluff writing simply doesn't fly in the 21st century. There have been too many advances in performance, brain development, and neurology to simply tell stupid stories. There isn't a single reference in the book to any scientific studies whatsoever. Furthermore, there isn't even a single footnote or source cited for anything (other than the author's opinion). The book has no forward from any peers in the field of performance or personal development, and no quotes of praise from any authors of similar topics.If you're serious about this subject, check out "Thinking Fast and Slow," "Focus," or any of the books by former Navy SEAL Mark Divine.

My 6 year old son LOVES Moby Shinobi and it's a book that we don't mind reading to him over and over again! He loves how Moby tries to use his ninja skills to help with everyday jobs and things don't go as Moby plans but in the end, Moby saves the day! The illustrations are very colorful and my son loves looking at all of the details in each picture. The series is great for a beginning reader!

{My thoughts} – Moby is back with a all new job adventure. He is always trying to find a nice job where he can help out. In this fun book he gets wrapped up at a construction site where he is moved around from place to place, but his Ninja skills aren't very helpful.He tries to chop up lumber, hammer some nails and some other things, but it all ends up in a terrible disaster. Eventually he is told that his skills aren't the kind of skills that are useful for a construction job.As he's getting ready to leave a puppy ends up stuck and Moby saves the day. Moby is the one that helps figure out and get the puppy out.I really like these books. They are incredibly well done for early readers. There are some fun and bright illustrations on all the pages. The sentences are short and written in a rhyming type formation.I recommend this book for any beginner reader. These are fun to read. The sentences are in like a thought bubble type manner which makes it an entertaining read. I think that this book and all the rest in the series could definitely become some favorites.
