In spite of it being an outdated edition, this is still used as the Oncology bible at the vet school I attend. I used it on my rotation to help get a profile on my patients and I look forward to using it in practice.
This new edition is a great improvement from the last edition, it has great pictures and new inputs on paraneoplastic syndromes and novel cancer treatments...I loved it and I recommend it!!
This is a very usefull book to use as a first reading. May be not for Pathologist, but for Clinicans.Ideal for pick up data in the office.
The book is great... new full color photos make reading about all these different type of neoplasias a little more bearable.
I am currently finishing up an advanced clinical rotation in surgical and medical oncology at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. I bought this book as a main resource, along with Fossum's surgery text, Slatter's, and Nelson/Couto's medical text. Withrow's book has been extremely helpful with the background information required to diagnose, treat, and predict the behavior of most tumors. I would recommend this book to anyone specializing in oncology, surgery, internal medicine, or even the general practicioner.
This a great onc resource for any veterinarian- excellent pictures and descriptions. The delivery was speedy. However, the book was supposed to be in brand new condition and was delivered damaged. The front cover looked liked it had been stepped on and was bent back, folded, and scratched.
